A lot of telecoms companies acknowledge the growing convergence between IT and Telecoms. This convergence has created new commercial opportunities and industry revenue has been placed at almost 3% of the gross world product.

With such a widespread global reach, network operations centres that constantly monitor telecommunications networks are critical to the maintenance of that business.

A network operations centre and master display wall allow telecom companies to see the entire network topology, determine where and when faults or congestion occur and manage the appropriate responses.

They also serve as a commercial selling point, enabling telecom companies to showcase customer applications, voice and data streams and provide overviews of system status to customers in a well-lit environment.

How do we help?

Christie’s wall management software MASTERSuite incorporates an application programmable interface (API). API acts as a programmable interrupt, an open command system which bridges the gaps between two different sets of software.

Telecom companies often develop their own management tools to support network operations and Christie’s API has been used to interface between SNMP alerts received by SMS text messages from mobile handsets that can be registered on the display wall.

SMS messages could be sent to an engineer in the field and if the engineer fails to respond by sending an SMS message back an alarm is flagged and displayed on the wall.

Not only helping to protect the maintenance of the network, but those who maintain it.
When Christie designs control room displays we calculate the brightness required, taking into account the ambient and artificial light in the environment. We ensure brightness uniformity across the wall and that it does not exceed 3 times the brightness levels of the operators’ desktop display; as this would induce operator fatigue.

However, when customers visit a site this brightness level is not as impacting. With Christie display wall system NOC managers may use Christie’s ‘white boost’ function to uniformly increase the light output of display wall and return to normal levels after the customer presentation is complete.
